This is my first time to the Chicago area, and I was looking for breakfast after my flight from home. Decided to stop in and try the original pancake house as I’m staying up the road. So first time in the Chicago area first time trying the original pancake house. Upon walking in instantly greeted with a warm welcome and great hospitality. Sat down immediately. Server before I can even take a moment to look, was already there with the water. Upon looking over the menu prices are very very reasonable. I ordered the 2X4 which is two eggs, any style and four of their pancakes. After I place my order food is there within 10 minutes and delicious. Server kept checking in making sure everything was great. Overall, everything was amazing. Will definitely have it again before I go back home at the end of the week.

I should have taken photos but the food and the company were so good, I just dug right in! I had the veggie skillet (delicious) and my 5 friends/family felt the same about theirs. Pros: - our party of 6 was seated within 10 minutes...on Mother's Day!! - our server was very fast and very attentive, bring refills without being asked, making sure our orders were correct, etc. Impressive! - checking in without being overbearing - great prices! Cons: - NONE. What a fantastic day! We'll be back!

I ordered Dutch baby. This is definitely worth the wait. I have never had anything so good. It is crispy on the outside yet soft and tender on the inside.

The service was exceptional. Jillian B, our waitress, the hostess & wait staff who cleared our plates were all wonderful & attentive. The food was yummy, nothing fancy, kind of old school, but exactly what one would expect from a traditional pancakes house. The environment was clean, simple, family-friendly & not too busy. They have an outdoor seating area, booths & regular tables. One does need to order strategically otherwise the side orders can cost $10-11 each. Outside of that it was $49 + $10 tip (23%) + $5 addtl to the bus guy (he was very attentive) that was the total of both meals. Below is what we ordered.

The food and time of service were great. It went down from there though. The space was extremely crowded. My wife was never even offered a coffee refill. The restaurant was full for sure. There is also a notice of scheduled move in the near future. Hopefully with the move, my shortfalls will be resolved.

I ordered Pancakes, Bacon, an Egg and Hashbrowns on the side, but before I remembered My Egg was missing, I had most of My Breakfast finished. I take part of the blame, but I also ordered the Pancakes, Bacon and Egg as one plate, so I think it is on them to know what comes on each plate. I'll go back and give them another shot.

Service was polite, unintrusive, but I wouldn't call it especially friendly. The food was hot, and it tasted fine, but it wasn't anything impressive. My syrup bottle came out warm, but covered in water, and when I went to put it on my pancakes, more water poured out from under the seal on the bottle, which made my pancakes wet. Don't think I'll be back.
